JOIN "LOST BOYS OF SUDAN" IN BUILDING SCHOOLS
-- AND A BRIGHTER FUTURE -- FOR VILLAGE CHILDREN

Many children in war-torn Southern Sudan yearn for an education, but opportunities are extraordinarily limited.You can help secure their future by supporting the Coalition of Willing, a national nonprofit organization formed by the “Lost Boys of Sudan" now living in America, who are working in partnership with Sudanese village leaders to build local schools. After 20 years of war, the need is profound – and urgent.

Our Mission: Secure funds to build schools in our home villages in Bor South.

Our Immediate Goal: Secure $125,000 to construct one four-classroom school in Kolnyang.

Our challenge

• More than 20,000 children in Bor South need – and want – an education. Today, the literacy rate is a dismal 5 percent. Only one person in 20 can read and write. Our goal is to build five schools in Bor South's five payams, with each school ultimately able to serve 400 children.
• Nine of 10 people in Southern Sudan live in poverty.
• Today classes meet under the trees, and students trace letters and numbers in the dirt. Many children -- especially girls -- cannot attend because the schools are too far away.

Who We Are
The Coalition of Willing (COW) is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization formed by the “Lost Boys of Sudan” who were resettled in the United States in 2001. They were called “Lost Boys” because of their remarkable trek when, as young boys, they were forced to flee from their burning villages and the continued ravages of war. They walked from Sudan to Ethiopia and later back through Sudan to a refugee camp in Kenya. “Lost Boys” from the Bor South region now living in America -- from San Jose to Syracuse, Boston to San Diego -- are determined to make a difference for the young people living in their home villages.

In 2005, the Coalition worked with American friends and raised more than $40,000 for famine relief. When COW members arrived in Sudan, village leaders decided that this gift of food would only address immediate needs. Instead, village leaders suggested it would be better to use the funds to educate the children, so that they could feed themselves and their community for years to come. Those funds became essential seed money for this project. Since then, we have worked to establish good relationships with village leaders and with Sudan’s Ministry of Education in Jonglei. Our first site is primed and ready. We are ready to begin construction, and your contributions are critically needed.
